Accessible. Holistic. Approachable.
At Lithos Counseling, we work with our clients to set goals and interventions in order to achieve their desired outcomes. In order to meet the needs of each client, we offer face to face, concierge (we come to you), or virtual visits to accommodate busy schedules.
These are the principles that guide and motivate our every decision — as a business and as practitioners:
We want to provide expert and informed services to all our clients. As a result, our clinicians invest regularly in continuing education — researching, connecting professionally, and attending workshops that keep us abreast of the latest news, interventions and information available regarding mental health. Additionally, our clinicians place a priority on self-care, practicing what we teach to ensure we are able to bring our best selves to the work of helping others.
Pain and suffering is difficult, but we’ve also seen the beauty that can come from ashes. So, we trust that change is possible, that better is around the corner, and we lean heavily into that truth when working with clients to conceive and follow through with goals.
We value relationships, inside and outside of the office. We believe that no person is an island and, as a result, strategic relationships are necessary for change to occur. If clients are agreeable, we eagerly partner with medical professionals, family members, school personnel, friends and other clinicians (inside and outside the office) to create dynamic and effective treatment plans.
We acknowledge that mental health can affect other parts of our life. People are complex, as are the problems that bring them into therapy. We honor that. As a result, therapy assessment and treatment takes the whole person into account — physically, spiritually, relationally, emotionally and cognitively.
For many individuals, obstacles get in the way of counseling. At Lithos, we are dedicated to removing as many barriers that can come up. That is why we have chosen to join several insurance groups so you can utilize your benefits when it comes to mental/emotional health. This can often help with the cost of finding a mental health provider in your area. Virtual visits are also available.
Lithos also offers concierge services, which allows us to come to you. We believe in meeting you where you are. Services can be scheduled where and when you feel most comfortable whether that is in a confidential work space or at your home. Evening and weekend appointments can be arranged as well.
We believe it’s a privilege to hear and be invited into our clients’ stories. As a result, we strive to be the kind of people and create the kind of environment that feels trustworthy and safe. Our lobby and offices are strategically warm and comfortable — like living rooms instead of doctor’s offices. In practice, we are clinically minded but decidedly conversational.
The following models are examples of evidence based practices used in our sessions at Lithos:
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a model of therapy that is most useful for clients who feel stuck or lost in life. Using ACT, the therapist will work closely with the clients to identify their core values, set goals based off of these values, and then create a plan to begin making lifestyle changes. The ultimate goal of ACT is to help clients create a life that is highly consistent with their goals and values.
We will also simultaneously work to identify enabling thoughts and behaviors that are keeping the clients stuck.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MB-CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can be effective in treating a wide range of issues–notably depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). CBT works by emphasizing the connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and assisting clients in learning to recognize and break away from unhelpful thought patterns.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (M-CBT) incorporates mindfulness, or the practice of being fully engaged in the present, to traditional CBT interventions.
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) assists clients in problem solving and identifying solutions to stressors. From a solution focused perspective, the emphasis is on the present and future vs. the past. This model is most useful for clients that have a limited time or availability.
Registered Mental Health Counselor Associates in Texas are required to be under regular supervision by a Licensed Mental Health Counselor qualified as a Clinical Supervisor in the state. It’s a safety precaution for your clients and a unique learning opportunity for you. Choosing the right supervisor is often the most important part of your professional education. That’s where qualified Clinical Supervisor Jared Calaway, LPC-S comes in.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…
“Supervision with me involves much more than case consultation. I believe the best therapists have really learned who they are and how they can uniquely help clients. Because I have a comprehensive and extensive understanding of most clinical modalities and interventions, I am able to aid those seeking full licensure in Professional Counseling while discovering what fits and works best for them.
I’m the best fit for those who have a desire to develop themselves and are passionate about learning — not only about the profession, but yourself, as well.”
— Jared Calaway | LPC-S
